The lock bridge & "Sorry, we're closed."

Ahhh Paris (metropolitan population-11,836,970)! The city for lovers! It must be the wine... Cause that's all people seem to drink at all hours of the day!

It was a sleep in late day, simply because of the arrival time of 12:30am from Lille. The day finally started at about noon. Catch a Metro train to Eiffel Tower to get started on the adventure!

Colin & Maria actually only walked by the tower, they had no interest in actually seeing it, too touristy. But they found a little Cafe called Beaujolais, where they believe a young couple from Quebec was also having lunch.

Maria & Colin both started with a Grimbergen beer. They didn't have much of a beer selection, but one helluva wine selection, go figure.. It is France after all...

Then for lunch Colin had a tomato, real mozerella with herring salad and pates au poulet, magnifico! Maria had pates au poulet and crepes sucres for desert.

Colin enjoys an espresso as a lunch topper.

The crazy thing about these two adventurers, is that where ever they happen to choose.. Cats always seem to be there! Even this place had two resident cats.

That's the neat thing about the UK and Europe, they don't mind animals in establishments.

On with the adventure! They passed under the Eiffel Tower...

...making their way to Jim Morrison & Oscar Wildes gravesite on the other side of the city. While walking there, they passed many beautiful bridges over the River Seine.

Then they came across Le Pont des Arts (bridge), which is near the Louvre Museum, which they also walked by because they didn't really care about what was inside, the building is neat, but meh, they can Google Mona Lisa. Speaking of Google, a guy had a shirt that said "F*$K Google, ask me!" Brilliant! But it was too busy to get a pic.. Sorry..

Back to Le Pont des Arts. Attached on both sides, everywhere, are locks, all kinds of locks! It's people locking their love in Paris over the River Seine!

That's the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Colin was about to buy 2 waters from a guy selling them on the street. It was a really hot day and both he and Maria were thirsty.. He picked one up, looked at the security seal, and it was broken! It was a reused bottle! Word to the wise, be careful of what you purchase from some random dudes on the street.

After about 2 hours of walking to Pére LaChaise Cemetery to visit the resting places of Morrison and Wilde

Colin & Maria were told they were closing... They missed out! At least for today... You can almost hear Colin cry & in the above picture you can see one of the doors closed..

You can take a virtual tour of the cemetery here http://www.pere-lachaise.com/perelachaise.htm and read about other people resting at the 118 acres here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%A8re_Lachaise_Cemetery .

It was back to the Metro to make their way back to the Best Western.. Walking through the big crowds and catching the train, and not getting lost. They loaded up at the Super Marché with food for the morning and lunch the next day.

Then it got real elegant.. The best champagne €7.10 could buy, enjoyed from the Best Western supplied plastic cups.. Budget champagne!

It was a good day, tomorrow will be better! Visiting one of the greatest rock n roll stars and drinking wine along the River Seine! And no, it was no brown bag wine.
